Founded in 1485 by the Portuguese, the City of São Tomé belongs to the district of Água Grande, on the northeast coast of São Tomé Island. Its port is the main port of the country. It is recommended to visit the cathedral of the 16th century. 16th, to the Fort St. Sebastian built in 1575, the National Museum and the Presidential Palace.

Getting out of the city, do not forget to visit Roça Monte Café, Roça Agostinho Neto, Baía Azul, Jardim Botânico and Anambó. In an environment that is always relaxed, in São Tomé you can feel the force of wild nature where the coconut trees abound, combined with the sweet aromas of cocoa and coffee. In the spirit are the old farms explored by Portuguese and whose construction reflects the architectural and aesthetic principles of the construction in the colonial period. Although many are still to be recovered having been absorbed by the jungle, work has been done to recover this heritage, giving it a new life.

Ilhéu das Rolas is located south of São Tomé Island. With the peculiarity of being crossed by the Equator, access to the island is only by boat from Porto Alegre.

Ilha do Príncipe is the smallest island in the São Tomé and Príncipe archipelago. Discovered by the Portuguese in 1471, be sure to discover the Banana beach, the Belvedere of Belo Monte and Évora Beach.

The gastronomy was built from the products available in the region although it has some influence of Portuguese cuisine. Here the fish and seafood are always fresh and tasty and the abundance of vegetables and fruits accompany these dishes. Banana is a very popular fruit and is prepared in many ways: baked, fried or roasted. Calulú is a traditional dish similar to a soup made with dried fish or meat and served with banana puree or cooked rice.

In São Tomé, although there is no wealth, life seems easy, smiles brighten children's faces, nature provides food, the landscape is overwhelming and the beaches stunning.
