WE enjoy SPACE TOURISM!

2021

Dear Friends,

Please be advised that the Space Tourism era has already begun!

The first space tourist in history was the American Dennis Tito, who paid 25 million dollars to board the Russian spacecraft Soyuz, bound for the International Space Station (ISS) in April 2001.

Decades later, last Sunday, July 11, the British billionaire Richard Branson traveled to space for the first time aboard an aircraft developed by his company, Virgin Galactic, thus fulfilling an old dream. “I've dreamed of this moment since I was a child, but honestly, there's nothing to prepare us for the view of Earth from space,” he said at a press conference after the flight. "It was all just magical."

After an hour and a half of delay due to weather conditions, the Virgin space plane, christened VSS Unity, took off from SpacePort America, in the desert of New Mexico, USA, at around 8:40 am on Sunday (3:40 pm in Lisbon). Branson, 70, traveled accompanied by the vehicle's two pilots, Dave Mackay and Michael Masucci, and three airline employees - Beth Moses, Colin Bennett and Sirisha Bandla. The vehicle reached an altitude of about 88km and, after about four minutes above the Earth's surface, where the crew reached zero gravity, began the journey back to Earth.
